Interserve was commissioned by Gwent Healthcare Trust at OBC stage through the Designed for Life (DfL) Framework in Wales to undertake the project, which is part of its Clinical Futures programme and includes rationalisation of healthcare solutions and buildings; the proposed new hospital is planned to be built on a brownfield site within Newport.

Key tasks included:
  • Overall strategic health and organisational planning advice across its modernisation programme of its primary and secondary care healthcare and the delivery of a new specialist/critical care hospital within the Gwent area
  • Strategic planning advice of non-clinical service delivery and estates/business solutions
  • Estates solutions and cost models for the 'Do minimum' business case options associated with clinical service reconfiguration
